Privacy Policy & Children's Privacy Notice

Forest Academy (operated by Built2Rise) is a parent-directed homeschooling platform. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control parents have — including our practices under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

1. Parents are in charge

• Only an adult parent or guardian can create an account. Children never sign up on their own.
• By adding a learner profile, the parent gives verifiable consent for us to store that child's learning records solely to provide the service.
• Billing, settings, private documents and the vault are protected by a parent-only PIN and are never visible in learner views.

2. What we collect

• Parent: name, email, location (country/state for compliance tools), and payment status (card details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers).
• Learners: first name or nickname, age/grade, learning preferences, accommodations the parent chooses to add, and work the family creates (quests, journals, reading logs, portfolios, tutor conversations).
• Basic technical data (device type, errors) to keep the app running and to help when you ask for support.

3. What we never do

• We never sell or rent personal information, especially children's data.
• No behavioral advertising, ad trackers or profiling of children.
• No public profiles, public social feeds or direct messaging between children and strangers.
• Independent educators see only a learner's first name, and only for classes the family enrolled in.

4. AI tutor (Voyager)

Tutor conversations are processed by our AI provider only to generate replies and are not used to advertise to your child. Photos or screenshots shared with the tutor are used for that reply and are not stored as images. Parents can review and delete conversations.

5. Parent rights

• Review, export or correct your child's information at any time.
• Revoke consent and request permanent deletion of a learner's records through Help & Support.
• Refuse further collection while keeping existing records you want exported.

6. Retention & security

Academic archives are kept at least three years to support homeschool recordkeeping unless a parent requests deletion. Data is encrypted in transit, separated per household with row-level access rules, and private files use expiring links.
